Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Police stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism made him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
